I bought this light to use in conjunction with my Surefire Saint, as I wanted to have the option of red light to preserve my night vision, and reduce the number of insects flying into my face.
I've got to say, the concept of this flashlight is brilliant. It is very light weight, unobtrusive, and it's function as a cable guide for rear mounted battery packs is very clever.
However, the problem is it just isn't anywhere near bright enough for illuminating anything besides close up objects, such as maps. Also, the protruding led lights up the side of the users face, which is not ideal.
I would recommend the MPLS II instead, although it is far more expensive.
