A piece of history
Reviewed by Darin from Lancashire
My knife arrived today and it is a piece of art. The knife is amazingly put together and is everything I thought it would be. In retrospect, I would have prefered the smaller 112 as this knive is larger than I thought but it is so beautiful, I love it. The 420 steel has been heat treated and has turned it into a razor sharp blade. The finger grooves are perfect and the finish overall is wonderful. The leather sheath is also 1st class. A must buy.

Received my Buck 112 FG today, I'd like to thank Richard for excellent communication and the next day delivery at this time of the year. The knife itself is heavy and sturdy yet comfortable and short in the hand. You feel as though it could punch through, say, a car door. I now have both 110 and 112, 110 for hunting and 112 for everything in between, fantastic daily knife. Hennie is the best for choice, communication and delivery.

The Classic
Reviewed by Paul Scott from Kent
I was going to buy a custom Buck 110 direct from the factory but when I saw the choices of blade steel available (only s30v or bog standard 420HC in various finishes) I bought an original. I decided against the FG version in case my fingers didn't line up-correct choice. It is solidly built and for a 1962 design was years ahead of its time. I can't comment on it's cutting ability and edge retention yet as it only arrived this morning! It IS sharpenable (the main reason for my rejecting the custom-built s30v blade). There is some play in the blade just as it closes meaning it doesn't sit centrally when closed (a minor detail). The scales are a little disappointing in that the grain can be felt under the fingertips and the lacquering/phenolic injection has masked some of their beauty. Reading back I think I've been harsh. The backlock is rock solid. This knife is a tool, it was & is built to do a job at a price and in that I believe it will excel. PS Excellent service HH

I work as a Ranger in a National Park and the Buck Ranger is the knife for me.
After spending my hard earned pennies (pounds these days!) on various knives under the pretext of 'looking for the one' I think I may have found it. This knife is perfect if you are looking for a knife you can work hard for long periods of time without getting a painful hand. Really comfortable but this comes with a cost as it's not slim (hence the comfort) and most people would rather carry this knife in a pouch. Luckily Buck provide a high quality leather pouch free.
Also easy to sharpen. As always great service.

Not as good as I thought
Reviewed by Jim Thomson from Falkirk
This knife is a bit disappointing in that the opening mechanism was gritty and required some lube, the handle was greasy and the brass rivits have been put in at a slight angle and therefore do not sit smooth to the wood and feel a bit raised on one side. Still a nice knife but Bucks quality control is not what it was.

A heavy, top quality knife, built to last, a knife that will bring back memories for some and a knife that will stir the imagination and spirit of adventure in others. For my fellow countryman - Stefan - the knife you saw in "The Edge", as used by A. Hopkins, is not a Buck Hunter, but a similar lockback knife, made especially for this movie, by Canadian knife maker Brian Lyttle. Here is a picture: http://www.lyttleknives.com/gedgpic.htm

The Buck Folding Hunter 110 with Finger Grooves is a very versatile blade. It would work very well as a hunting knife or back up knife working alongside a survival knife whilst in the field. The blade is razor sharp straight out of the box. The only problem with the one I received was the slight sideways blade wobble of about 1mm either way when locked. Other than that, it is a very nice piece of kit. Highly recommend it.

I have a big collection of knives and wanted one of these for a long time, but I'm a little disappointed with my knife I got from Heinnie two months ago - it is a solid knife with an excellent quality blade and good feel in the hand, but has some sideways play in the blade, and that's my pet hate for a folding knife as it shows it's not been checked by thr Mfg prior to despatch. My CRKT mirage feels lighter and is more compact but with zero play and benefits from a pocket clip.

came this morning with my other knives. I love it,only ever had cheap rosewood handle imitations, but this is most definately the real deal. No substitution. Its HEAVY, but I like that, the brass bolsters and liners are all one piece of solid brass (from what I can see) and the handle is beautifully polished, the blade is solid with no play and the action is smooth and easy but with reassuring clicks. I love it. Too big for legal uk carry, should have got the 112, but who cares, its a legend.

The handle is comfortable with a re-assuring weight regularly lacking in many modern knives; It has a strong lock on the blade that enables you to use it with confidence, it takes and holds a good edge. It is big enough to perform every task asked of it from skinning rabbits, cutting food, carving snare toggles to preparing tinder for fires. While still being small enough to carry comfortably in its belt pouch with a rucksack or while wearing a seat belt without it getting in the way.
