Crkt commissioned custom knifemaker and Knifemakers’ Guild Member Kit Carson to create the M18 after the phenomenal success of his CRKT M16 models. But make no mistake—the M18 is not a dolled-up M16. It is a striking new lightweight design in its own right, powerful, well balanced and exceptionally finished. Not too many years ago, a production knife such as the M18 could not be made to such high quality standards. Today, thanks to precision CNC machining and exceptional hand craftsmanship, the CRKT M18 models are affordable work tools, suitable for hard daily use. In addition, the M18s’ premium materials, finish and build quality make them very collectible.
The CRKT M18 features Kit Carson signature touches such as the 180&Mac251; circular pivot with thumb stud detents, ample friction grooves for sure grip, and the “Carson Flipper” which speeds opening and acts as a blade guard. Combine these with the unique blade shape and aluminum handles with G10 inlays and you have a powerful knife with a true personality.
Ground to a swedged and recurved spear point shape, the premium AUS 8 stainless steel blades in frost finish offer superior edge retention. Teflon bearings at the blade pivot assure velvet smooth, quick blade action. The open all-metal build uses precision CNC machined 6061 T6 aluminum handles, hard anodized Titanium Gray. A 420J2 stainless steel locking liner is inset in one handle, and a hard anodized 6061 T6 aluminum back spacer is used, all assembled with superior Torx fasteners. Castellations around the butt on the handle greatly increase security and tactile awareness.
The Columbia River Knife and Tool M18 is available in two sizes, both with Razor-Sharp and Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point Serrated cutting edges. All models are available with red, blue or black textured G10 scales, precision inlaid into the handle to increase purchase.
The patented Lake And Walker Knife Safety (LAWKS) makes the folder into a fixed blade when engaged. As the final touch, there is a removable custom Titanium Gray Teflon-plated stainless steel clothing/gear clip.
