Its all a matter of like or dislike. In my opinion the KM3000 with the partial serrated blade is a perfect combat/survival knife. In a survival situation the serrated edge could be a life saver. This knife is a bit heavy but very well made.

Eickhorn KM 3000 (Plain edge)

Excellent knife, very solid construction, the handle has a good grip and fells very confortable to use. The only reason it doesn't get a 5 star rating is because the blade wasn't sharp when I got the knife which is something I was expecting for a blade of this price.

I have the serrated version, and the plain edge on order, so Claire, perhaps I may offer my opinion? This knife is excellent in design and quality. Were I still serving, this would probably be my choice, provided that weight was not at a premium. Good to see a British owned company blowing away the competition, and producing innovative designs.

What is the point of writing a review for a product you don't have? People can see for themselves that "the handle LOOKS well constructed" etc. Please keep this space for people to write user reviews of products they have actually used and so have something to base said reviews on. I (under various names) have submitted reviews on some of the products I have bought from this site so I feel I have at least some right to say this. Thanks

KM3000 review

Solingen made hopefully means quality, world class razor blades are typically Solingen made. Molle fittings desirable, handle looks well constructed. A negative I suspect could be metal quality, stainless steel, had this been a powdered carbon steel it'd probably be more expensive. Spear point gives a more bayonet style to the knife, a seven inch blade makes it ideal for a combat/survival knife with a well serrated edge. Try before you buy, looks like a good knife at a reasonable price tag.

Excellent design of both blade and handle. Plus a very well thought-out sheath. The only thing I don't like is the half-serrated edge. Those serrations seem almost like an obsession with many knife-makers. On a compact rescue tool they may be perfectly adequat but not on a military/survival knife. If they made it with a plain edge I would definitely buy one.
