The old model had a problem with blade chipping but the new model Heinnie have with 440c steel works well.
Who in their right mind would buy this knife after reading these terrible reports of blade chipping ?
Have the broblems with the blade steel been resolved,
if not then why bother offering it for sale.
Looks nice but it can't cut it! Didn't have much work to do other than twigs and thin branches etc...then it splintered.....looked like a fault in processing of the blade. It happened again and in larger chunks of the blade shattering and sticking in the wood when striking a young dead Eucalyptus shrub. Forget it!
The blade is ok but it chips very easy after 1 hours use. The handle is very cheap & awkward to hold. Has a tendancy to want to fly out of your hand.Uncomfortable to hold. Not a comfortable tool really. I think the FOX Hitam Golok is a better buy or the FOX Bushcraft Parang as the handles are much better quality as is steel. They are great to use. Any of these 2 are a good purchase. This Parang XL does look good though & gets 1/5 but is not a sturdy chopping tool.
