Fixed Blade Gators feature patented handles set them apart from the competition. Gerber revolutionized knife grip technology when it introduced the Gator in 1991, winning Blade Magazine's Most Innovative Knife of the Year award. The Fixed Blade Gator series of knives have handles made of a hard inner core of glass filled polypropylene, with Santoprene rubber molded and chemically bonded around it, essentially combining the two materials into one piece. This creates a handle that is soft and tacky when gripped, even when wet. This handle is lightweight, yet is exceptionally durable. Gerber's handle technology is now available in a fixed blade.

The Fixed Blade Gators are available in three blade shapes. A shallow drop point-excellent for hunting as well as general purpose tasks. A clip point traditional American blade style, and a gut hook-the perfect big game field dressing tool. All three blades are made of high carbon stainless steel, honed to a razor edge.

An innovative sheath is included with all Fixed Blade Gators. This sheath is made of ballistic nylon with a molded plastic insert for safety. The knife is retained in the sheath by a nylon strap, secured with a snap button. The belt loop is also secured by a snap, allowing the sheath to be put on or taken off without the user having to remove their belt.
