The Indium torch is the first of a range of innovative new products designed and manufactured by Angus Noble. Angus Noble is known for his innovative design approach. He has designed everything from racing yachts and multihulls to cameras and bicycles using high tech materials. Angus has now started to design and manufacture a range of exciting new products under his own name. The Indium, the first product in this range, demonstrates his unique approach to design: 'I have designed products for over 20 years and I am very passionate about good design. Unlike most designers, I have always been responsible for manufacturing everything I design myself. From yachts to bicycles, I have had to turn the ideas I have into real products on the shop floor. This practical constraint feeds back into the design process continually. Aesthetic and manufacturing considerations are all dealt with simultaneously, so the design evolves naturally to its conclusion. Thus 'form, function and production' all come together in a holistic way that I like to call 'Art in Engineering'. The result of this approach are products that I feel have a inherent natural simplicity and elegance that has nothing to do with 'styling' but are to do with 'quality'. The Indium is a high powered rechargeable LED torch or flashlight. It uses mobile phone Lithium-ion battery technology and the latest high intensity LED's to produce one of the smallest and most powerful rechargeable light sources available. The Indium torch is unique in being controlled by a touch sensitive switch that uses the natural conductivity of the skin to switch the light between full power, half power and strobe mode. By using this type of switch the Indium torch has no moving parts. This makes for complete reliability, as there are no contacts to wear out or corrode. The Indium torch casing is machined from solid Aluminium bar stock on computer controlled machines. This gives the Indium torch case precision and quality. After machining, the cases are anodized in a range of brilliant colours. Anodizing is where the surface layer of the aluminium is oxidized and then colour dyed. This dye then becomes part of the aluminium surface.
