It is illegal to supply a knife to anyone under the age of 18. Heinnie Haynes actively checks the details of all orders for knives, and other edged items. Should we be unable to confirm your eligibility, you will be asked to provide proof of age in the form of a photocopy of you drivers licence or passport.
Developed by Capt. William E Fairbairn and Capt. Eric A Sykes during World War II for the new British Commandos, this is perhaps one of the most famous and historical knife designs of recent times.
The blade has a double edge and is parkerized carbon steel, the handle is cast metal alloy. It is supplied in a metal tipped leather boot/belt sheath.
|Blade Material||High Carbon Steel|
|Handle Material||Black Cast Metal|
Read a lot of bad reviews on this BUT I seem to have got a good one! Both edges sharp and the point is like a needle. No damage or bad work on the blade or handle either.
Got one of these direct (not via Heinnie) and although it's a nice looking copy and solidly put together, it was blunter than a table knife.
Trying to sharpen it improved matters a little (and wrecked the black coating, of course) but I eventually discovered via scratch testing against other blades that the steel was barely hardened.
Purchased one of these a few years ago. I met up with a chap from 3 Para who fought in the Falklands. He showed me his issue commando knife. Exactly the same as this ( look for the crossed keys stamp). Leather sheath is poor quality. Good value knife.
A true icon, right down to the military arrow, which deserves a place in any collection. Not,perhaps,very practical
(unless you happen to be creeping up on an enemy sentry),but I sure enjoy opening my mail with it!
Very good for the money. My father has what I assume is an original and this is near enough the same to my eye.
My advice is don't sharpen it, keep it as a collectable because I had a go and though it holds an edge well a few mis strokes has spoilt it's blackened finish.
At the price, there's plenty to like. A 'close enough' replica for most, and of sufficent quality to be functional. Marks on too for authentic foil-like balance - just what the original designers intended. With its decent sheath, all it needs is a little attention with a sharpening stone. Commando standard service from HH.
This knife is the 3rd pattern FS Commando Knife. Personally I prefer the 2nd pattern for the grip, its less likely to turn in your hand when wet and has a better look. But this is great for the price!
Great knife for the money. Solid, well made and good copy. Had it delivered through the free option and it came next day. Excellent service.
Not the fanciest or most hi-tech knife around these days, but for your money you're getting a reasonable quality rendition of a real classic.
Reasonable build quality for the price, handle is a little smaller than the issue FS, which can prove unconfortable if you have large hands.
Overall for around £30, it's good value,has a decent blade with a precise needle point and takes a good edge.
