This may be the perfect 24 hour or EDC bag.Review by

As the name suggests, the Rush 24 is an excellent 24-hour / day bag / EDC bag. It's very well made, extremely tough and will stand up to serious abuse. The straps provide comfortable carriage even if the pack is seriously overloaded. The pocket layout is good: a spacious main load carrying area, side pockets on each side than have further internal pockets, two pockets at the top front for carrying small items such as keys, a (smaller) phone, hand sanitiser or the like.

The lower front features an exceptionally well laid out admin / organiser pocket with plenty of space for pens, notebooks, EDC tools, medical supplies, spare phone batteries and even a kindle or small iPad. This is possibly the best 'organisation' pocket I've ever seen and used on a bag this size - it allows you to carry everything you need without being so big that it encourages you to over-carry pointless bits & pieces. Forces you to be mission-critical in other words.

There's a soft pocket on the top for sunglasses or a larger phone, and finally a separate pouch at the back for a hydration bladder. The pack has a stiffener at the back so it's comfortable to use even when filled with things that have corners e.g. Peli cases.

For military users, this is a really good option for a RAID or 24 hour pack. At a stretch you could use it as a 48-hour pack, but if you have to include food in your load then it might get a bit tight for space. Otherwise an excellent option for 24-hour (or under) ops. This pack really is well thought out. It allows you to carry everything you need for 24 hours, or a day out, and works extremely well as an EDC bag, without being so big that it encourages you to overload it.

A note on the "double tap" colour - I was hoping that this would match the "storm grey" in which 5.11 offer a lot of their gear, but in reality double tap is much darker than storm grey. Unlike one of the other reviewers I haven't found it to be green at all, but it definitely doesn't match any of the other 5.11 storm grey kit. This isn't necessarily a disadvantage, since double tap is actually a nice subdued dark grey, but if like grey and for some reason (uniform for example) you need your gear to match, then it's something to be aware of.

I've used my Rush 24 daily for over 3 months and it's held up perfectly, even when I've severely overloaded it as described above. 5.11 bags really are incredibly tough. Ultimately I think it's slightly expensive for a pack of this size (~30L) but the quality of construction, the very well thought out layout and the sheer variety of storage pockets and organisational capability means that it comes very highly recommended.

Exactly as ExpectedReview by

Don't have much to say in terms of the quality of the bag except it's exactly as I expected it to be. If you're seriously considering spending £100 quid to buy one of these you know yourself how much of a complement that is. This is my EDC/over-night,/fishing bag and has already been put to good use in all three functions and has performed well. Very comfortable and the drainage holes have ensured the unexpected dip it received dried very quickly. I'd recommend getting the extra straps (or 'tier system', whatever that means) you can get on Heinnie as you can use two as extra compression straps (is that the right term?) to keep everything where it should be, and another two for whatever else you might want to strap on there. Anyway, for someone who hasn't much to say I've gone on a bit. Great bag, exactly what it says on the tin. Do your research though, if you're an office worker looking for a laptop bag this maybe isn't for you. (Posted on )
My go to bagReview by

I love this bag! I use it as my day sack when I go walking. It hold everything I need easily with room to spare (I don't like to start with my bag full to bursting in case I need to throw anything else on during the day). Being made from 1000D nylon it's on the portly side when empty and therefore is a heavy bag when loaded but the weight is distributed evenly and comfortably across the back and shoulders so never feels painfully heavy. Great Pack (but watch out for double-tap!)Review by

This is a fantastic backpack. Perfect size (12 is a bit too small, 72 too big for me).

I watched Youtube vids about the colours, and whilst black was my preferred choice, it was out of stock here at HH so I went for double tap. The pics here make it look like a charcoal grey with black webbing.

This is not the case!

It's actually a really dark green with black webbing. Seriously - none of the pics online can represent this color properly. Mine also looks even more green in direct sunlight.

In any case it's not grey, so keep that in mind when ordering it.

PROS

+ This thing is bomb proof. The 1050D nylon triple coated blah blah is strong stuff.
+ Very roomy. Pocket after pocket combined with the strong material makes this a tardis.
+ It sits very well on your back. The chest strap is great for me, and I don't find the need for a waist strap with this size pack.
+ All the good stuff people say about this pack is true (check YT).
+ The bag does stand up on it's own (I saw a review saying they don't, but if you pack the bottom of the bag out - they do).

CONS

- For added water resistance, I would have liked for the zips on the top pockets (when looking at the front of the pack) to terminate at the bottom, so water couldn't run into these from the top.
- The side pockets do eat into the space of the main pack, but not detrimentally. However a 750ml bottle or thermos is about the largest you'll comfortably get into these side pockets.

I'm returning the double tap version and getting the black one (as they're now in stock again).

HH have been as great of course.

A solid, well made and useful daysackReview by

After spending a long time looking for a pack that was small enough to take on a plane as a carry-on, but big enough to take a 15" laptop and still get used as a normal daysack when out on exercise, I settled on the Rush 24. I'd previously used a Rush 72 and, whilst it was a superb bag, it was just too big for my needs.

I'm glad I settled on the Rush 24. It's just about the perfect size for travelling, can hold a tonne of stuff and yet also has enough small pockets that I can still organise travel documents and personal electronics. It's also very solidly built and I would have no problem strapping it to the back of a bergan and taking it into the field. Acres of MOLLE means that I can strap more pouches to it if required too. The colour I chose (sandstone) looks pretty innocuous, but fits well with MTP, so works well for my purposes.

I'll admit that this is at the expensive end of the daysack range, but it's a quality product and one that I would no problem recommending to anyone with similar requirements.

Having read the reviews i noticed one referring to the 'Double Tap' colouring. is it really dark green rather than grey? Can anyone else clarify?
A:
Hi Spence.....we took these photos ourselves so the colouring is fairly accurate. I'd say more grey than green

I am thinking of buying 3 of these as grab bags. Are the side pouches large enough to take a British Army 58 pattern water bottle?
A:
Hi Robert.....I think both the 24 and the 17 would be too small to fit the 58 pattern water bottle. However I'm sure there must be some way of carrying a bottle via the Molle attachments or a carabiner
