BCB Crusader Cup and Cooker MKII

BCB Crusader Cup and Cooker MKII set is a simple outdoor cooking system including two items; a cooker and a cup.

Made from anodised aluminium it is very strong and light in weight plus it is easier to clean. The base of the cup has a large surface area to capture heat more effectively and efficiently thus reducing cooking times.

The cooker is designed to use with the Fire Dragon family of fuels both solid and gel. The internal "chminey" in the centre of the cooker helps to improve burning efficiency and the vent holes will retain as much heat as possible whilst funnelling airflow.

The cooker and cup nest together nicely for easy transportation.

    Crusader 2 cook set

Interesting cook set . It’s pretty good as a multi fuel cooker. You don’t quite get a boil with one Dragon fuel block, which seems a little strange, but is usable.

    A nice bit of kit

The BCB Crusader mk2 cup and cooker are good products. Made of anodized aluminum, they are lightweight and rugged enough for regular field use, though perhaps not as rugged as stainless steel. Nonetheless, if cared for, should last many years.. Mini Trangia type alcohol (meths) burners fit inside a holding cup in the cooker ,I think the distance (approx. 1/2 inch) between the burner top and cup bottom is too close for efficient heating. I have a short alcohol burner that leaves about 1.5 inches of room and brought 600 ML of water to a rolling boil in 7.5 mins. The holding cup (with wick?) should be sufficient for alcohol even without a burner. The cooker should be adaptable to several types of fuel including twigs and chemical heat tabs, alcohol burners etc. The wire handles stay cool during cooking and lock together (right over left) to provide a stable grip. I've gone ahead and ordered the mk1 stainless cup from Heinnie as I think the generous size of the mk2 may be too big for some uses. A metal cover would be useful for these cups to speed up the heating time. Partnered with the pattern 58 water bottle and drinking cup, you have a pretty good cook set with plenty of room within for odds and ends. At that point though, the water bottle becomes part of a cook set and loses a lot of practicality for hydrating on the trail.. The only negative I see at this point is the bulk of the kit. As stated before, it's quite lightweight but the size of all the items together borders on the ridiculous for backpacking, hiking or infantry use. That being said, a person using a little imagination should be able to adapt and overcome these minor points and come up with an arrangement that works for their needs. Nice bit of kit. By the way, if ordering this item during the holidays whilst a worldwide pandemic is raging, expect delays in shipping. Around 5 weeks in my case. Not Heinnie's fault.
