While only my first purchase via HH; The professionally efficient and well informed service, coupled with a delivery time of one working day has secured a future returning customer for HH.
Regardless of the common criticisms concerning a rather low quality Sheath and somewhat slick stock Handle-Scales; This Knife meets above and beyond every expectation I had for the BKR9, and at a price well below that of many of its competitors.
Another superb Knife from the Maestro that is Ethan Becker. (Posted on 31 December 2015)

A lot of people seem to complain about the sheath, and i'm quite certain there are much better ones out there (for much more money) but in my opinion this one will be more than up to the task and i'm quite happy with it.
Knife came razor sharp and only a day after i ordered thanks to the amazing service from Heinnie. (Posted on 17 January 2015)

Now the Becker BK9 you will receive is not the one in the picture above as that is the older model, you will receive the newer model which is better with superior rough powder coating finish not smooth as above and white lazar etched branding not stamped in as above (I knew this before I purchased the knife but just to give you a heads up). The new sheath is better too and very good quality.
I wont bore you with technical details as they are easily available to find but I will say this knife has a 20% edge on an almost full flat grind / hollow grind all the way up to a high grind line near the spine which just eats into wood all day and it splits / batons tough 7" large diameter logs better than any other knife I own. Durable and easily maintained edge. It can do fine work with the Gimping giving control and the swage gives you options for defence etc. Full tang with hammer pommel and lanyard hole, blade edge comes below the Choil so longevity when sharpening too. A very well thought out knife that will last.
I paired this knife with a silky bigboy saw that together easily fit inside any pack and both together weigh less than my Gransfors Brux small forest axe alone (stays at home now if big hikes are involved!). This combo will keep you easily in large diameter firewood for serious campfires with a light pack. I will contend the lightest combo you can get that provides big firewood without effort for extended trips.
From looking at pictures of the BK9 online you get the impression its a big heavy monster chopper but the first thing you notice when you get it is that is much lighter and agile in the hand than you anticipated. I have small hands and thought I would struggle with the grip but I found the grip a perfect size for me.
This knife does have a lot of finesse and just doesn't look as big in real life as it does online, it is light and agile in the hand (this is a good thing). By way of example I own a John Nowill British Army Survival knife and it is like a pry bar,, very heavy and very rough as issued. Its more of a tool than a knife but not so the BK9 which is hair popping sharp and impeccably finished out of the box.
Not the knife for 'out for the day stroll bushcraft' but for extended nights out wild camping / bushcraft overnights this will serve you well and I recommend it without reservation. A stunning knife, very capable and worth every penny, top quality design, materials (CV 10-95 carbon steel I think) and functionality cheap at the price. Designed to be used hard.
My go to excursion blade.

A large, practical, no-nonsense knife.
Must say I'm a little disappointed with the sheath although it's tough enough for general use and functions 100% as intended with some potential for modification & refinement. (Posted on 24 August 2013)

Questions & Answers
If you look at the Chemical composition of 170-06, it is basically AISI 1095 with the addition of small amounts of Chrome, Vanadium, and smaller amounts of Nickel and Moly so the term 1095 Cro-Van is not off base.
