Thank you HH. Even when couriers and delivery companies failing YOU still stand on top of case. Sending me replacement when first parcel was not delivered.
Little Bean is brilliant as a very small EDC. Looks good, cost not much and do the job as should...nothing more nothing less...for every other who rating Bean low please look on CRKT Liong Mah #5 Heinnie® Edition.

Good job Serge and thanks to HH again.

The build quality of this small knife is amazing for the price. It was a perfect edition to my UK friendly EDC collection. The design and weight make it so easy to carry in all situations. The clip is very strong gives peace of mind that it's not going to fall out and once clipped in you forget it's even there as it's so light. Love it!! (Posted on )

  5. No, back to something more traditional.Review by

I am slightly amazed at the amount of five star reviews. Not that this knife doesn't have an awful lot going for it. Sadly, for me the aesthetics are not enough. I wanted an EDC slip joint that I could open with one hand, and it works after some practice. Unfortunately it leaves a huge hole behind, which together with the handle texture, (I went for the Zebra wood) the placing of the clip, and the overall size, means that for me this is simply uncomfortable.

Very nice steel, a lovely shape to the blade, giving a little longer belly than I was expecting and despite being thick, it slices very well. In fact the blade is a winner as far as I am concerned.

I don't mean to rain on the others' parade, but the knife simply doesn't fit in my hand.

It seems to be a universal that HH are loved, and I love them too, but on this occasion I would have liked to have gone to a shop, on a high street, in a a town, then gone for a pint after, and finally smoked a cigarette to celebrate. You all know very well that even if I hadn't bought this -- and it is so pretty that I might have -- I would have bought something.

So, a knife that nearly does the job for me. Heartily pleased that it is doing the job for the rest of you.

  6. A Lovely Little KnifeReview by
    Rating
A lovely little knife with a sensibly sized and well designed blade. Easy single handed open and close with good blade retention in both positions. The handle is comfortable and secure enough for the kind of everyday jobs one tackles with a pocket knife. The blade comes reasonably sharp

Aesthetically pleasingly from the simple presentation box to the Black Fox logo machined in to the grip scale.

My only complaint is the pocket clip; when using it the knife sits high and I for one would appreciate a “deep carry” style clip.

  7. Finally! :)Review by

I finally own something from the wonderful Serge Panchenko :)
Well, OK, not directly from, but still... I've admired his custom designs for some years now, but between not having a few hundred spare for what will inevitably be a shelf queen, and "available" times all being in the small hours for the UK... and even the Spyder Co versions being a bit spicy on price for what they are - design above utility... I'd more or less given up.
Then Heinnie sent me an advert for these and less than 48 hours later, it's mine ;)

I've gone for the black G10 version - it's a knife that I want to EDC and use and I've got to like the grip and wear that G10 offers... also, I like the black stonewash. The blade itself is a little more "solid" black then I expected, so I'll need to take some extra care when sharpening. On arrival, it's sharp enough for fingernail curls but won't pop hairs; I'm sure it'll only take a little work to get it there.

Not a big fan of clips in general (extra weight and bulk I don't use), but as another reviewer has said it's very difficult to remove, I'm seeing how I get with it for now.

The fit and feel of the knife are far beyond the price point; it's lovely to look at and fiddle with. One-handed opening is definitely a two-stage process for me at the moment. Although the ball detent is not the firmest at holding the blade open, Serge pointed out that the extended thumbhole in the Beans means you can use a good bit of pressure onto that to keep the blade where it should be. Feels like he's right to me... although this is a small knife and you probably shouldn't really be using it for heavy tasks anyway.

Overall, this a lovely knife with that little bit of extra cachet for those who know, and at this price it feels fine to simply carry and use it.

Easy opening, sharp out of the box and the wood scales give it the look of a more classic pocket knife. Would recommend. (Posted on )
  10. Fantastic KnifeReview by
    Rating
    Great little knife.

Beautifully designed and sharp out of the box. For a small knife the one handed opening works pretty well.

I went for the stainless steel finish, which has a certain industrial look to it. I also believe the other finishes add a bit of thickness to the overall size of the knife.

It's quite heavy for it's size, which I quite like, but it's not heavy per se.

If you're looking for a knife that will break up boxes, this is not it, but it's great for day to day tasks in the office (opening parcels, mail, sharpening pencils etc)

  11. Good design but not right for meReview by

I ordered the stainless steel version. The build quality is exceptional and it looks fantastic, nicely rounded and the oval thumb hole works well. Blade shape is nice and useful and a good size for edc. No doubt will be a perfect knife for some applications. I decided to return it as I felt the ball/catch joint was not secure enough for me. It opened fairly easily but also closes very easily. Because it is a small knife I found for most applications my thumb or index finger would push against the back of the blade and the rest of my hand gripped the handle. For anything other than the most light of tasks I found the blade was likely to close on my hand from the pressure of finger/thumb. The handle is too short to comfortably just grip it, regardless I find I have more control holding it as explained. There are a lot of cheaper small knifes for limited use like opening letters etc and I wanted something more versatile so sadly returned it. If there was a version with either a more traditional slipjoint / spring or locking version I would reconsider. Have opted for an Arthur wright lambsfoot instead.

I am not looking to put people off as it is a great knife, just sadly not what I was looking for.

  13. Best edc knife for uk marketReview by
    Rating
This tiny EDC uk legal knife is definatly hard to beat. Quality build, razor sharp and all round perfect for every day carry. Not very threatening so good to carry and potentially use in public within reason.
Highly reccoment as a uk legal knife. Love the brand and love the work by serge
Personally prefer it in stonewash grey as its thinner. The others add extra scale to the side of the item making it more bulky. This is minimal but still, for a pocket knife, small handle, larger blade is usually the way to go

I ordered both the olive wood and steel versions.
I have to say I prefer the steel version, although the olive wood one performs just as well. One thing I have to note is that the wooden side of the scale is thicker than the steel scale.
Both were sharp out of the box and so far haven't required sharpening (although I haven't been using them long).
I would recommend removing the pocket clip as it sits high in the pocket and is so light & small that it is fine sitting normally in your pocket without the clip.
100% worth the money, especially for this really unique design.

  16. Great Little KnifeReview by

Like others here I came for something else and left with this knife. I got the plain metal one. I am very happy with this great little knife. A very positive slip joint, a helpful thumb notch, and the blade is a useful length (for a UK friendly knife). The blade shape is good--not too thick to make apple slicing difficult, not so thin I worry about breaking it. It's small and less intimidating to the muggles who lose their mind when you wield a pen knife ("ermagherd is that a knife!"£$%???"). It has heft but is still comfortable in the pocket. My new EDC (in place of a Boker+). Well worth it. (Posted on )
  17. Very niceReview by

A very nice knife for the price, simple construction with very thick metal make the knife feel practically bomb proof. Out the box the blade is very sharp but could be sharper. There is absolutely no slop in the blade, a lot of cheap knives have sloppy blades right out the box but not this one. I would have liked the olive wood one but as it's out of stock I got the stainless steel one but I am extremely happy with it. (Posted on )

Pretty excellent knife. One problem I had however, is that after a while, the wooden scale wore away slightly, and the liner was slightly smaller. Meaning the stud was no longer making contact with the wood. This resulted in a small but still annoying amount of play. Other than that, can't fault it and will probably buy the metal handled one very soon. (Posted on )

You can’t beat these prices ! I purchased the olive wood one and I’m surprised about the quality and detail that goes into this knife. Super easy to carry and very light in pocket., I usually wear joggers so I hook these to my underwear and I don’t feel a thing.

Comes very sharp out of the box, not to be messed around with ! This little thing is d*dly

  23. Perfect Edc knife for meReview by
    Rating
When I saw these go up for sale on the website I knew I had to buy one, as soon as I unboxed the knife I could tell a lot of work went into making it. I work in a office as well as a carer (both places I need a knife for opening a lot of parcels+mail). But due to the environments where I work there isn't blades accessible to me. So I need a office friendly blade that doesn't raise an eyebrows. This is perfect, smallish blade, fits nicely into any trouser pocket and has a friendly blade shape. Had a few compliments around the office already, which is nice. (Posted on )
  24. Close to perfect for edc, but not quite. Review by

Let's get the not quite bit out of the way first, I don't like pocket clips so the first order of business is to take them off, however, this bad boy is thread locked on and it's tough! It took heat and two TX7 bits to do it!
Now the good bits, build quality is excellent, quite sharp out of the box and the value for money is excellent.
And yet again HH service is fantastic.

    Rating
This little thing is great. Nice stone washed finish. Reasonably sharp out the box. Very good steel choice given the price point. Well centred blade. I really like the blade thickness to size ratio. Similar to a Spyderco techno which would be my ideal edc is it wasn’t for the law around locking folders. My only real criticism is the clip. If it had a deep carry wire clip (like the techno) it would be nearly perfect all things considered. In fact I like it so much that a few days after I bought it I bought a spare in case I ever lose it. If you’re thinking about getting one you won’t regret it. Excellent HH service as usual. Pleasantly suprised opening the neat box it comes in.
Good build quality, no hot spots, can hold it comfortably in a 3 fingergrip (I got xl hands).

Blade is perfectly centred, mind, it would have to be, it’s a pretty thick blade for its size and if it’s off center it would be touching the liners easily.

Decently sharp out of the box, and quite like the feel of the olive wood scale.

HH as usual was great with delivery.

It is very well made for the price point, very well. A lovely solid snick when opening and closing.

Cutting edge and blade very sharp out of the box and nice precise grind.

Detente holds the blade open nicely, firm enough too.

Rides a wee bit high for me in the pocket, but can't really complain at this price.....yes, for £28, a brilliant wee daily user

    - and thank you Heinnie for the excellent service once again

It appears that the silver finish has a thinner handle, the black is thicker and wood is thicker still from the way the bolts appear. Is this right?
A:
Hi James, yes the frame is bare on the silver version just stone washed. The G10 and wood have scales that attach to the frony part of the frame making it a few mm fatter (the width of the material)
