SHOT Show – 2015

Every January we dust off our snakeskin boots, look out our most impressive cowboy hat, and make our annual pilgrimage across the Atlantic to far away Las Vegas. It’s time once more for the world-Famous SHOT Show – “Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade”. Our annual visit ensures that we keep our place as the UK’s foremost supplier of knives, tools and accessories. We renew our friendships with the knifemakers of the world, and keep an eye out for the new talent emerging.

Las Vegas

Vegas is an amazing city – for a start, we go from cold, wet GB in January to the city in the desert which feels like a hot British Summer, and then you get out of the cab, and you’re in a scene from the movies with the famous hotels – the Bellagio, Treasure Island, the MGM Grand, Caesar’s Palace, Mandalay Bay…but we’re not here for the Strip and the casinos – we’re straightoff to the exhibition centre to see who we can meet and what we can see.

The convention centre (center!) is enormous – if you’ve been to a trade show at the NEC in Birmingham, well, that’s about the size of the foyer of this place – just to walk around the SHOT Show takes a whole day – but then there’s the stopping and looking at things, talking to people, and getting lost.

We have our own secret way of sniffing out the best stock to bring you. There’ll be our old friends Hiroaki Ohta, Andre Thorburn, Brian Tighe, Mick Strider and Darrel Ralph, but we’ve heard great things about Peter Rassenti, Gus Cecchini and Donna Williams. It will be great to see those knives for real.

As well as the custom makers, all the production knifemakers have a large presence at the show. It’s great wandering around the stands and watching demonstrations of the year’s new models (we had hands on the Spyderco PITS back last March…), and negotiating the best supplies we possibly can.

Vegas Strip

We hear a few secrets while we’re there – which is why it’s always worth calling us in the HH office and speaking to Richard or Nick, to see what news they know!

We’ll keep you updated with news and photos when we get there…Vegas here we come!
