Great knife in a small package

Posted by Andrew on 3rd Jan 2024

Initial thought was that this knife is a lot smaller than I initially thought it would be.. but it’s absolutely perfectly sized for carrying in the uk. It’s got the classic “non threatening” look which means I’m more than happy to pull it out in public and the build quality is incredible especially considering the price.. Highlight for me is that my one didn’t have CHINA printed on the blade like I’ve seen others have. If I hadn’t bought it myself I’d have priced it at least double what it is

      Buck Solo

Posted by Steve Holland on 20th Aug 2022

Pocket-friendly little EDC and razor sharp straight out of the box. But after a couple of years’ service slicing tomatoes and Melton Mowbrays at the office it developed serious blade wobble. The gold coating on the Buck logo has also flaked off. The knife has now been retired and replaced by a Boker.

Great little non threatening EDC for less permissive environments, such as offices etc.

      Adorable

Posted by James Bell on 9th Jan 2021

Adorable very light little knife , good sharp hollow ground blade with a satin finish and it has a light easy to open blade backspring , squarish polished bolsters , nice wooden handle scales held together with polished brass rivets with a buck inlaid shield on one side. Overall a well made knife , straight blade with a nice hollow grind , pleasing to the eye , and i am delighted with my purchase. I have no complaints with it , no blade wobble or looseness when opened , reasonably thin handle, and i'm sure it would make a delightful little gift to a friend or family member . Free of any manufacturing faults , a joy to own and use. Also comes with a warranty from Buck knives that they will repair or replace parts or the whole knife if found with any defects of materials or workmanship, what else could you want from an inexpensive adorable little pocket knife.

      Small but useful

Posted by Mark on 1st Apr 2020

Buck Solo, a well made, sharp but very small a pocket knife, the size would put most people off however it sits in your pocket without you even knowing ready for you to use. I bought the Solo shortly after having the Buck Deuce, i use both knives on a regular basis around the house and office and they have both kept a good edge, i recommend this knife. Quick delivery from HH.

      Discrete, petite, and really sweet.

Posted by Stevo on 29th Jun 2017

Performs even better than expected. Light, slim, and trim. Good general purpose pocket knife. Segments an apple beautifully. 420 high carbon stainless steel construction means it cleans up easily and resists corrosion. Responds instantly to stropping. Laminated hardwood scales are tactile and warm, stained to handsome subdued hues of reddish brown. Buck have made a real effort to maintain quality with the Chinese versions of their time-tested classic traditional pocket knives, in my experience. I own seven different patterns, and all are well made, with good walk and talk, understated satin grinds, crisp lines, and wonderful value for money. The edges on all have been excellent right out of the box. For its modest price, the Buck Solo is a perfect small traditional slipjoint pocket knife; sure to please as a gift, it will give many years of dependable service. HH - always great. Cheers!

      Classic Gentleman's Knife

Posted by Eaglekid on 15th Sep 2016

I knew that the solo was a "made in China" item - as I have another Buck from the same country, but let me add there is nothing wrong with the Chinese Franchised Buck knives as my first one in some respects beats USA made Knives (not the hunter ) , this Knife is exactly what I wanted for a slim "Gentleman's" pen knife. It is an elegant little knife and once again everything fits and works as it should and despite being a Buck did not require a few strokes on the stone to be at it's best. Good little companion, which for the times when carrying anything bigger would just overkill!
