CRKT Doug Ritter MK5 WAS £24.95

Doug Ritter's RSK Mk5™ (Ritter Survival Knife) is not a knife you would use all day for normal work tasks. But, based on Doug's philosophy that "if it isn't with you, it can't save you™," it is compact and light enough to fit in almost any small personal survival kit or stash-away location, yet robust enough that it's a knife you can bet your life on™.

Doug is the founder of the Equipped To Survive™ and an international authority on survival equipment. The RSK Mk5 is a collaborative effort based on Georgia knifemaker David White's custom Shrewd Survival Knife, itself the result of collaboration with Dr. Andrew Osbourne.

Weighing in at less than an ounce, the skeletonized fixed blade sports a 1.75" wide-chord drop-point blade with a high flat grind. The high-carbon steel blade has Doug's preferred stonewashed finish for improved corrosion resistance.

The ergonomic curved handle provides a secure and comfortable two-finger grip while a brightly colored nylon cord fob adds additional length and grip.

Use it to make fuzz sticks, construct shelter, gut a fish or dress game. Whether it is wilderness or urban survival, the Mk5 will do its part to keep you alive and kicking.

Includes a custom-fitted Kydex® sheath and a mint- size carrying tin along with Doug's suggestions for building up your own personal survival kit.

  1. For the sale price well worth itReview by
I bought this more out of curiosity rather than need. I keep a small Gerber folder in my survival tin but I did wonder if this would be better (it isn’t) but is still a useful sized tool. It is small but that’s it’s charm, you’ll never down an oak with it but be realistic about your expectations and you will not be disappointed. Amazingly blunt OTB but a quick visit to the DC4 and it’s sharp enough to slice paper, not too sure how long the edge will remain but it’s easy to sharpen. Worth keeping in a kit or bergen until you need it and at this price it’s worth a punt. HH service once again phenomenal! BZ. (Posted on )

  3. Hunters companion Review by
Fantastic performance super compact and razor sharp. I keep it in my sleeve pocket of my hunting smock, and can forget its thers till needed. Brilliant game preparation blade rabbit, pigeon, quail trout no problem. After useing a Stanley or opinel for many years this has replaced them. Holds a wicked edge easy to touch up to shaving sharp. I took the lanyard off but it is affective to give a better grip if your playing on doing larger tasks. The free tin is a nice bonus. Purchased another for a friend and think I'll order another for myself as a spare. Also takes a paracord wrap nice to the handle. At this price why wouldn't you get one ! (Posted on )

  5. surprisingly good!Review by
after looking at several reviews and the price of this dropping by half I took the plunge and got one of these. the knife comes in an altoids sized tin with a nice cardboard box, there are instructions on how to build a survival kit from the maker. the knife itself is lightweight and came with an excellent edge on it, the sheath has solid retention so if your were inclined you could hang it around your neck (I want to risk it coming loose and stabbing me mind) some have complained that the sheath blunts the blade but I find that if you insert the knife with the spine tight to the sheath then the blade doesn't make contact with the opposite side. I cannot comment on the edge renention but the stonewash finish is a nice touch and should help keep some rust off. for use I think it is much better than the typical razor blade or "multi tool" that you get in most modern survival kits. for the price I think this is excellent and should last a long time (Posted on )

Ordered friday morning, arrived saturday morning. The usual great delivery service from H/H

The knife itself, i like it. Very light & compact.
Good edge, the cord lanyard is okay and the tin it came in i can put to good use.
At this price, a bargain !!!

    Very Pleased with this it.

  7. Somewhat FlawedReview by
This knife is great at first, with its curved ''cute'' features and non-intimidating design. The blade came very sharp, and the finish is great for the price.
But my problem lies with the sheath. The sheath itself is great and slim, but it actually badly dulls the blade to the point of not being able to pierce plastic without tremendous force.
But with proper maintenance this knife is great, and I enjoyed its small size and easy carry around the neck and in the pocket because of its slim size.

  8. Does what it says in a tinReview by
I've had this knife for a while and use it occasionally. It came sharp, with nice sheath. However, personally speaking, the blade shape is not ideal for a very small knife. The Rough Rider SS lock-knife is possibly more versatile due to the blade shape, costs much less and also fits well in a tin. However, if you don't mind the cost, the Mk5 is a more than adequate blade, very pretty too, and the Doug Ritter tin with instructions to make a survival kit is a nice touch. The Ritter tin is smaller than a standard tobacco tin, though whether this is good or bad is up to you. I prefer the larger tin. Recommended, with slight reservations over cost and the short straight portion of the cutting edge which limits it's utility in my opinion. But as an emergency back-up tool it's not bad at all. Glad I bought it, even though the RR or Spyderco Grasshopper plus a bigger tin is arguably a more practical and cheaper basis for a survival kit. (Posted on )
  9. RITTER MK5Review by
i didnt read the specs for the knife so when i got it i was shocked at how little it was for ú25 but on the picture it looked class with the mad colour para cord but yet again i was faced with another disapointment you get a cheap thin black cord (fail) check! (Posted on )
  10. BrillianceReview by
Just short of 25 pounds seems like a lot to pay for a 3 inch piece of made in china, not particularly high carbon, stamped steel. But Ritters design is astounding, compact and comfortable. For its purpose it is's as near perfection as it could be, considering its weight and size. Don't pack razors, scalpel or stanley blades, it's silly (like carrying water in condoms), pack one of these. (Posted on )
  11. great little toolReview by
I just got this for my birthday and I'm suprised how comfortable it is to hold. Perfect size for a survival kit a really useful design (Posted on )

What a great idea!! not only is it small enough to be added to a survival kit but it actually works and get this, alot better than any other knife of its size for its intended use.
One up for Heinnie for stocking this great tool
