Fallkniven LTC Series

Fallkniven LTC Series

From: £59.95

The Fällkniven LTC (Legal to Carry) is a neat pen-knife which you can easily carry in your pocket. In order to conform to knife laws Fällkniven have deliberately designed this folding knife to feature all the elements required to enable the user to carry the knife in most environments. This means that the blade lacks a conventional blade locking device (yet is still held in place by a steady spring), that the blade is short and narrow ( under 7.6cm – 3 inches) and that it cannot be unfolded with one hand. These results in a friendly carry penknife.

The quality remains the same as with any other Fällkniven knife. They have spared no expense when it comes to the blade quality for instance. Becoming the first in the world to introduce a penknife with a blade in their now famous laminate powder steel 3G! The blade has grooves on both sides of the blade, making it useable for both right and left handers. The LTC is presented in several attractive colours and is supplied in a solid wood gift box inspired by traditional wooden pencil cases.

  1. Quality control issuesReview by
While I am sure it would hold a very good edge, I was very dissapointed with this knife.

One of the rivets sticks out further than the others and at a slight angle meaning it would catch on your pocket.

The blade wasnt smooth when opening and felt like it was scraping against something. Maybe due to the angle of the rivet.

For a knife of this size costing £86, I would expect the fit and finish to be perfect, not inferior to a swiss army knife.

  2. Fantastic (but now quite pricey)Review by
Had my LTC for about a year now. Its an extremely simple "old fashioned" pocket knife, with a very high quality blade - which keeps its edge fantastically well.

The fit and finish on mine is flawless and the orange finish has held up very well so far. Because of the design, colour and size it doesnt attract any attention when i use it in public. The blade is very tight and secure when in use, but folds away easily enough.

Its certainly a "knife for life" which is what the premium price reflects. The packaging is lovely, and its nice to drop it back into its little wooden box when its taking a break.

As another reviewer commented, im surprised that there arent any Fallkniven markings on the scales or blade - but i'd be surprised if it was made by a third party given the overall quality.

  3. Fallkniven LTCReview by
Very disappointed with the poor quality of this knife. Fallkniven usually of the very best standard, but this one isn't. Unusually there are no Fallkniven markings on it, so I wonder whether its actually made by them.

Heinnie Haynes are, as always, excellent though.

  4. PerfectReview by
I bought a cheap penknife for EDC to see if I would actually use and need one.
I used it a lot more than I thought but the blade dulled quickly (though I enjoyed sharpening it) so decided to spoil myself with a decent EDC with a better steel.
I wanted it small, light, inoffensive, good quality and gentlemanly. Plus not so expensive that I'd be scared to use it. I'd looked around quite a lot online but it was hard to find what I was looking for.
The Fallkniven LTC looked good in an article on this site, so I researched it a bit and decided to get one.
I ordered the LTC in black online at 3pm and it was somehow in my postbox at 9am the next morning.
It's the perfect size for me, and smaller and lighter In the flesh than it looks online.
It fits quietly in the hand and pocket, slim and lightweight and it looks good, simple and smart, understated.
It's sharp and opens and closes with a nice snap.
It has a nice slim, short blade and a feel of a quality penknife about it.
It's very nice to use I'm really happy with it.

  5. BOMBPROOFReview by
Very very solid little knife. Anyone wanting a traditional style, legal to carry penknife thats really built, then look no further, tank like construction and a 3G blade. I should imagine the design won't be to everyones taste, but what you are getting for the price , is what makes it such a good little knife. Highly recommended. (Posted on )
  6. Light Tough Coloured: GreenReview by
Iron fist in a velvet glove

Very nice little knife. Small and lightweight but tough and extremely sharp laminated blade. It shouldn’t break under normal use. As always with my EDC knives I carry this one in my Jeans front pocket via a home made dedicated pouch, hanging from the belt. Unobtrusive, but ready to use.

On par with the Spyderco Roadie, but better fit and finish (and more pricey...).

Top notch Heinnie service,as usual and much more... The knife (and another item) were stolen during the international delivery. HH took care of my problem and replaced them immediately. Very professional attitude.

  7. Go on treat yourself! Review by
Arrived next day on standard delivery from Wales to the West Country ....impressive service from Heinnie.

First impression...this knife is understated, robust and elegant. It’s got a quality feel without trying to be perfect. The premium steel is always going to deliver a great edge and a knife like this is going to accompany you pretty much anywhere for years. Go on treat yourself!

  8. gorgeousReview by
I bought the sky blue version and its gorgeous. Didn't have any of the problems few others have had with mis-alignment, mine was perfect. Wasn't super sharp out of the box (literally - it comes in a wooden box) but couple of runs on the Ken Onion Workshop and it was razor like. Only criticism is i would have preferred a simple soft leather sheath than a box! (Posted on )
  9. ExcellentReview by
A great small pocket knife. I am favouring small pocket knives moire and more as my EDC and this one is really rather good. Very high quality fit and finish. A beautiful small pen blade, very sharp out of the box. A simple design but really elegant. My only two negative points is that the nail nick is very close the the blade so it is hard to open if you have really short nails. I have had mine for a couple of weeks and the coloured coating is already wearing a little.
Not cheap, but you do have to pay for quality and this is a quality knife.

  10. Banging bladeReview by
a superb peace of finnish crafsmanship. Those boys at Fallkerniven know how to craft a blade. This one has pride of place on my keychain as my EDC (Posted on )
  11. NiceReview by
Good size UK carry knife made with excellent blade steel that holds an edge for a long long time before it needs a sharpen. (Posted on )
  12. Not what I expect from FallknivenReview by
I'll leave it to other reviewers to talk about the blade quality and other good points so let me get straight to the matter of the terrible finish.

As Hughlie points out in another review, the handles are different shapes and don't match up. It looks as though each half is individually hand-finished on a grinding wheel but when the knife is assembled the two halves aren't the same shape as each other. Bit's point out where I'm sure they shouldn't and some corners are more rounded than others, in fact one was almost angular.

Another disappointment was the line on knife blade (can't remember the technical term) was in a different place on each side; on one side it sweeps downwards and on the other it sweeps upwards.

I know 3G comes at a premium but, at 55.95, I think it's reasonable to expect an acceptable quality of finish. Some buyers seem happy so my guess is that this is a quality control failure. Nevertheless it has left me with some doubts about the Fallkniven brand (and this comes from a happy owner of a U1).

I have returned the knife and opted for a refund rather than a replacement.

  13. Absolutely fantasticReview by
I bought this knife, it came next day (excellent Heinnie service once again!!). The knife itself isn't the most complicated fancy tactical black design with machine guns and lasers, but in my opinion is doesn't need all of that. The idea behind this knife is a non-threatening, world-legal blade for anyone to carry, and it certainly delivers in that regard. I feel as though I could use it anywhere anytime without any furtive glances or evil glares from the PC police. The blade is super sharp and hasn't needed any sharpening in a few weeks, and the back spring is strong, yet forgiving when it needs to be.
tldr; Nice legal knife that cuts stuff like a sharp knife through stuff

  14. Simplified perfectionReview by
OK, so its pretty boring to look at and it won't excite those who like a lot of style or detail in their knives, but Fallkniven in my opinion has got this one just right. Not in anyway scary or threatening, (the bright colours help in this respect) to most people its just a basic penknife similar to the swiss army style. But to those of us who appreciate knives it is made with one of the best steels available and the fit and finish overall is fantastic..
    Well work the money.

  15. A mixed bagReview by
First, it is a pretty high price for what is a very small and simple knife. That aside, the blade is very good, nice a sharp, no play, and centres perfectly. My only gripe is the quality control. The liner extends beyond the scales at the corners, I'm not sure if this intentional, but looks odd, and the 2 scales are completely different shapes and angles giving it a very odd look.

The scale and liner "issues" aside though, a very nice knife that feels solid.

  16. BrilliantReview by
    Received on 05/01/16

Very pleased with this beautifully made little knife. The fit and finish are of a very high order and the side plates have a pleasant tactility, and the surface gives good feel and grip. For it's size this knife has a good weighty feel. Straight out of the box the blade is extremely sharp and opening it is made easy by the well placed finger nail grooves on each side of the blade . The back spring gives excellent security whether the knife is open or closed. Very well worth the money.
