  1. hopelessReview by
First time I used this for hacking 1" branches the blade folded over. Managed to straighten it but then a chunk broke off. All this in 10 minutes of use. Utter junk - feels like its made of mild steel. My guess is something drastic has gone wrong in the heat treatment as I see old reviews being good and anything from the last year or so reflecting mine. (Posted on )
  2. Failed twice where Tramontina coped with ease!Review by
Bought one and took it out alongside my 20 year old Tramontina to do bushcraft chopping hazel and holly up to 30mm thick. The blade warped and bent, the Tramontina which is less than half the price had no damage and cut with ease. I complained to the seller so they sent me another. I then took the new one out to test it again alongside the Tramontina and exactly the same thing happened but worse. The cutting edge actually folded over. Really disappointing as it looks and feels good. (Posted on )
  3. Poor bladeReview by
Blade failed cutting 40mm hazel poles while the Tramontina Bolo coped easily with no damage whatsoever. I returned it to the shop for a replacement and tried again cutting 30mm holly with the same result; Gerber blade cutting edge actually folded over in places, the Tramontina was untouched. 4. Disappointing from Gerber.Review by
With the blade know how from Gerber, why would they make a high force blade that does not extend through the handle, then fit a two piece handle to it?
Try again, poor quality thin blade too.

  5. Label impossible to removeReview by
The label on the blade was nearly impossible to remove, I have some marking on the side of the blade now as a result of how difficult this was to take off (I tried hot water before scraping it off with a knife) .

Got the 10" and otherwise quite happy. The saw blade isn't as good as my £10 folding saw from Amazon, but it would do in a pinch.

  6. Good tool for clearing brambles and grass.Review by
I've had the tool for about a year. It works well and stays sharp, with an easily resharpenable edge. It cuts thin branches up to an inch OK but anything thicker and the blade begins to veer offline through the cut. It does a great clearing job in the undergrowth at the nature reserve.
For the heftier timber I use a really good quality Swedish axe; either Hultifors or Grunsfors Brux.
    I also have a Fox Bushcraft Paneer. Now that's a tool...but much more expensive...but what a beauty.
ps. I've used the saw edge of the Gerber for under water branch cutting. Good.

  7. why complain Review by
razor sharp machetes chip and break! a machete is a chopping tool not a carving knife ive that said ive own both both came with a well working edge all ive ever done is gave a few passes with my puck, as for comments about the saw , i got through a 5inch timber and more recently a 6 inch square block of ice

  8. Value!Review by
I own both lengths and both of them are great for the price (Posted on )
  9. bargain but it showsReview by
For the price it only just acceptable, maybe the 10 inch would be better. Arrived with a blunt and uneven edge, soft steel that doesnt hold. Saw back is next to useless (teeth too big)
Decent sheath though and nice comfy handle.
Excellent service from HH but i advise to spend a bit more.

  10. great for the moneyReview by
I opted for the 18 inch blade, for extra man points!

Cheap and cheerful piece of kit, sheath is fine too, but I wouldn't rely on it surviving on your belt in a jungle. Its fine for storing it though.

The only down side was that I had to sharpen the blade when it arrived. Not just a little touch up either, I had to re-profile the edge completely, as the factory finish was totally uneven, and wouldnt cut butter.

On the whole though, its good for the money, and looks scary as hell when you first get your hands on it!

Fine blade, very fine. Little bit of a wait but I did order new years eve and by the 5th it was here. Brilliant (Posted on )
  12. Crap SheayReview by
It's a great little machete, just a shame it didnt come as sharp as it could be and that the sheath was a piece of crap. I had to re-sew the sheath and enforce the seam with superglue. I also had to file back the handle to fit better into the sheath. (Posted on )
  13. Very good for…Review by
Very good for the price, thanks to heinnie
for the speedy delivery, arrived a lot quicker
    than expected.
Would give 5 stars, but the blade was not sharp
and i had to sharpen it before use.

Mine arived this morning and the postie will be a happy man as it cleared the undergrowth around the postbox in just a few slashes, bramble included! This is a good tool. (Posted on )
