    Tough Jacket

Posted by Dodger on 4th Mar 2017

Same as the previous review. Very well built jacket. Faultless quality. It possibly runs a little too warm for heavy/sweaty activity, but plenty of pockets and well designed would make excellent field jacket or photographers jacket. It is very expensive, but it looks like it will outlast my last two Goretex and eVent jackets by many years and so in the long run may seem more economical. Service was excellent too! I ordered at 4pm and it arrived midday next day.

    Insanely tough jacket.

Considering the actual features of this jacket it's very expensive, however what you're paying for is not the latest wonder material with self-adjusting breathability, nor for hundreds of pockets, but for a jacket that could probably survive the end of the known universe. The Mark VI certainly does have a very useful array of pockets, all of which are well placed and thoughtfully sized. The fit and finish are second to none with amazing quality of construction. It's also a very comfortable jacket to wear with room enough for layering in cold weather and the articulated sleeves in particular are a great design feature. I wouldn't describe the Mk. VI as being waterproof in the same way as a double layer goretex jacket, but it copes well with anything but a constant heavy downpour. It'll probably also benefit from a DWR treatment such as Techwash. What you're really paying for with the Mk. VI is the bomb-proof construction and incredibly hard wearing cordura external fabric. To give an idea, a lot of textile manufacturers will say that Taslan nylon is quite abrasion resistant. On this jacket, Taslan nylon is used for the *inside lining.* Which, by the way, is in no way uncomfortable to wear with a short sleeved shirt or similar. Size wise, I was very pleased to find that the jacket is true to the size chart provided, with room for layering underneath. Unlike certain other manufacturers whose size chart is a product of wild fantasy (I'm looking at you, First Spear), if you choose your Mk. VI jacket size based on your actual chest measurement you'll get an excellent fit. The cordura from which this jacket is made is unbelievably tough. Like 'would easily survive being driven over by an entire Soviet tank division' tough. I literally can't see this jacket ever wearing out, it's that well built. The only thing that perplexes me about the Mk. VI is the small square of velcro on the left chest area: it's 5cm wide by 6cm tall, which isn't large enough for most morale patches. Presumably it's meant for a specific purpose, though I've no idea what it might be. The name tape on the right chest area is roughly 10" long and the velcro patch on the right arm is a standard 4" wide by 4.75" tall and is therefore plenty large enough for standard 4" x 2" rectangular patches or 3" circular patches. To sum up, there are other jackets available with more pockets, and others that are made of more waterproof material, but I've never heard of, seen or used any jacket that even remotely comes close to being as tough as this one. If you need a jacket to guarantee surviving the zombie apocalypse, look no further. Absolutely outstanding delivery & service from HH as per usual.

    Ultimate jacket

Posted by Bones on 10th Nov 2016

Ordered yesterday here before midday ! astonishing. This could be the perfect jacket Ive been looking for, the quality and materials are the best Ive seen, lots of well placed pockets with top range zips and snaps. Build quality is excellent well stitched no loose threads, the hood is well shaped with room for a helmet. It feels good on with lots of room for movement and layering. The jacket is made of very strong material which should last years and take hard use, its quite packable too so a great all rounder and suitable for all tasks, I know its expensive but you can pay more for rubbish outdoor jackets that wont last. Recommended.
