  1. Big Knife!Review by

A friend of mine got this for me:

Everything about this knife feels BIG!
The beefy handle provides some serious grip.
The weight is good and feels very comfortable in the hand.
Love the satin finish on the blade.
Not razor sharp out the box but a few minutes with a carbide honer....
The sharp right-angled spine is perfect for striking a ferro rod.

This knife makes you feel like you could chop down a tree with it - Serious bit of kit!

A little more thought could have gone into the sheath but at £19 who's gonna care??

  2. Incredible value!Review by

I bought one of these based on the reviews as much as the price! Arrived the day after I ordered it! (Typical Heinnie Haynes delivery service - I just don't know how they do it!).
Anyway, as I opened the box it came in, my mouth fell open, and all I could say was "Wow!". An incredible knife for the money.
As others have said, it won't win any beauty competitions, but perfect for the job as a bushcraft/campsite knife. Again, the scales needed tightening, but that was all. Nice leather sheath too - this could have been a little tighter fitting, but I'm being picky! Well worth the £21 (inc. postage). In fact I went and ordered two more (one as a back up, and one for a friend, who was delighted, incidentally). Again, they arrived the following day.
Looks like I bought the last two 'coz they're out of stock again! - which doesn't surprise me.

Just got this @ HH's/Royal Mail 24 hrs. Tracked breakneck speed. WOW! Wotta chunk of steel! I can't believe this only cost £19. The sheath alone is worth a tenner. Also, I don't think it's ugly OR basic, just magnificent! I know the steel isn't fancy but you can't have hi-spec steel at this great price. This is one of the best value knives on this site. If you need something beefier than a Mora type Bushcrafter then you can't go wrong with this. A true bargain! (Posted on )

I recommend this knife for bushcraft use. It will out perform any other knife at anything near this price. (Posted on )

it's big, beefy and effective. it will handle any task you ask of it without breaking a sweat. the handle although very basic is comfortable and gives a feeling of confidence whenever you pick it up. the sheath is a simple leather sheath which is nice and secure as well as being good looking. if you're looking for a no frills general purpose knife then this is the blade for you. 7. A Fantastic Buy!Review by

I can describe this knife in one word ''solid''. The scales are two lumps of micarta bolted to the side, not pretty but well shaped, feels good in the hand and the grooves on said scales make it pretty grippy. The blade is a honking solid, thick piece of metal but the hollow grind should compensate for that. At this price range I expected the sheath to at least be junk but it's not, it's OK, a big belt loop, stitched together well enough, perfectly functional. If I was to be hyper critical the grind isn't the best but a quick go with a diamond rod and strop will sort that out, the scales are a tiny bit out of line on the pommel (almost unnoticeable) and there's a tiny bit of rattle when the knife is in the sheath (a minor annoyance). Not a big fan of honking great big pry bars but this knife is outstanding, fantastic, knife , fantastic price! (Posted on )

For the price this really is a brilliant buy.
It is a solid bit of kit with a full tang, giving peace of mind when in use. The blade is nice and thick surprisingly. The grip is basic but still feels good in the hand, although it is missing a lanyard hole, but one can be drilled easily enough. The rivets are Torx fitting and both of mine needed nipping up, but no big issues for me.
It was sharp straight from the box, with a slight smear or oil protecting the surface. The sheath is leather, and seems capable.
Worth the money in my mind for a general use camping knife.

  9. Hidden gemReview by

This is a proper working camp knife. No frills, it's not 'pretty', it's just a huge honking knife that is designed to perform camp and general bushcraft duties. The leather sheath works, but wont win any style or design awards.

If you want all your money to go on the knife and not on design gimmicks, this is the knife to buy. It's a real hidden gem.

Very strong, sturdy and simple knife. Perfect size. Came sharp enough. Giving 4 stars as grind on both sides of the blade is different , this crooked tip a bit, but nothing what cannot be fixed on the sharpening stone. (Posted on )
  11. Linder Guide Knife, a real functional workhorse without any fancy frills...!PReview by

Well, what more can you say regarding the Linder Guide Knife, a real functional workhorse without any fancy frills...!
Upon opening the box, the first impressions were just astounding, a real leather sheath encompassing a true work knife, and a real workhorse to boot with a sharpness that was more than adequate.
Okay the finish isn't 100%, but this is a work knife not a collector's piece, and at less than £20 for a fantastic bushcraft knife who could really complain?
The build is like any other German engineered item, solid and designed to last, with a functional style without unnecessary frills.
This knife looks like it's going to complete any task that you throw at it, and being honest I think it's going to out perform my Fallkniven F1 Black, which is really saying something...!
If you want a real bushcraft knife without paying the earth or having pretty finishes that do nothing but look nice, then this is the knife for you...!
Still astounded at the fantastic bargain price of less than £20, for a knife that will probably out perform many knives ten times its price. This probably explains why these regularly go out of stock at Heinnie Haynes, so hurry and you get yours before they all go...!

Is there a better beater knife out there ?
For this money I doubt it , its a simple no frills knife with a five and a half inch hollow ground blade and full tang handle with two slabs of micarta bolted on to it .
If you're looking for a beater knife you've just found it , and it comes with a decent leather sheath too . Great knife & Great service from Heinnie Haynes

This knife is bigger and beefier than it looks in the 'photo. The bird shaped hilt, with diagonal grooves across the grips has been a traditional pattern for German military knives and bayonets since Victorian times. The blade is an improved version of the German army issue knife of the 1970's. Will put it through it's paces in the Highlands this Summer. (Posted on )
  14. lanyardReview by
OK, follow up to my first review. I have just drilled handle
    and fitted a lanyard, 100%
improvement. Hacked a few saplings down at weekend and battoned a few small logs. Blade unmarked and still sharp. Do yourselves a favour, go buy one!

Ordered Friday, arrived Saturday morning, have not been able to put it down. Feels like I've had it for
years! Remember as a kid playing
swords with sticks, you were invincible, well that's how I feel holding this!! There's not much you won't be able to do with this no frills, sturdy knife. Big enough for light chopping and baton work, small enough for carving food prep etc. Good sized handle for big hands, perfect blade size. Just one thing missing imo, a hole
in the handle for a lanyard. The best ú33.95 you will ever spend!
