Puma Waidblatt

Puma Waidblatt
Description
The manufacture of Puma knives dates back to the mid 18th century in Solingen, the knife capital of Germany, when Johann Wilhelm Lauterjung trademarked the Puma name in the knife makers role of Solingen.
The Puma Waidblatt is a stunning example of the quality craftsmanship that has seen the Puma knife company achieve great succes over the past century and a half.
The blade is a hefty slab of 1.4116 stainless steel with a Rockwell hardness of 55-57 meaning it is easy to sharpen and will withstand some heavy use. The handle is made up of two scales of stag bone which accommodate the full tang design. The finger guard, butt end and liners are brass.
It is supplied with a dark green, leather belt sheath.

Each stag handle is different in shape, color and texture and such originality perfectly fits Waidblatt, a very unique knife totally distinct from all other knives.
Waidblatt is a blade specialized in hunting and hunting only ! It is not to be mistreated as a multi-purpose tool or even combat knife.
Mr. Walter Frevert, a chief designer of this legendary knife and avid hunter himself, had only one thing in his mind; hunting.
Its classic look with precision-cast nickel silver hilt and pommel may make you think that Waidblatt is just a collectors' piece and only serves as a drawer queen, but just like any Puma knife made in Solingen, it is a bona-fide hunting knife with considerable heftiness.
It weighs about 580g without sheath and it is one of the biggest and heaviest knives Puma Solingen offers.
Another factor that makes Waidblatt a truly original knife is the Handarbeit or "Handmade" quality. While holding mine in my hand, I can see some "imperfection" in it without compromising with quality and functionality, and this tells me that my knife is the only one in the world and there is none like mine !
I'm more than happy with my German Beauty.

This is my 4th Puma knife and I also own Rüdemann40 with beautiful stag scale, Tradition Knife and White Hunter 240 Jubilee Edition.
For its size (only 33cm in total), this knife is extremely chunky and heavy!
Waidblatt is known as one of the 4 Hunting Side Arms produced by Puma Solingen (Hirschfänger, Nimrod, Rüdemann and Waidblatt), and also one of the most sought-after blades by hunters as well as knife collectors.
The wide and thick blade with obtuse edge makes this knife an ideal hacker and it also serves as a mercy ki**r of some large game.
It is a beautiful, yet very robust German hunting knife with a beefy blade born to rule in the woods.
