Great model, but not a toy

Posted by Tod on 1st May 2017

Bought 2 of these for my sons for a Christmas present. We enjoyed building them together, but within 5 minutes both of them had fallen apart leaving us to search carpeting for tiny pins that fell out. I watched my sons with them, and falling apart came after approx. 5 opens/closes of each knife. They were being extremely careful, operating them properly. HH suggested if they were to be used in this manner, to glue the pins. If that's the case the kits should be supplied with glue and gluing instructions, or should be constructed to stay together. As a "sit on the shelf" model, these are a 5*. Anything more than that drops them to 1* due to failure.

    Excellent

Kept Mason quiet on Boxing day builing this, i took it as a kit so built as a kit and glued it together with him, common sense would say to do so. Excellent formed pieces no sharp edges apart from when he sanded it himself to a scandi grind or splinters to worry about, wood stained now and looks really classy. Overall a quality item make it well and its stunning infact

    Great fun

I got a couple of these, as my 9 year old daughter is a fan-without-a-blade. The other was for me, obviously! The kit goes together very easily except for one pin, but that is made clear in the instructions. There is plenty of scope for customisation. Just don't expect one-handed opening especially the Spydie-drop.

Spyderco knives are amazing and this little treasure is great for anyone who is a keen collector of Spyderco mechandise. Very easy to put together. Don't expect to be able to 1 hand open though or do the spydie drop lol!!! Great collectors piece.
