Great piece of kit, should have had one years ago, great for knives, and specialist cutting too,s

    The real deal

Excellent sharpener; even I managed to get a good edge on my knives and that’s saying something.

Small and lightweight but effective sharpening stone. Put a great edge on two dull blades for me in no time. Perfect for out in the field.

This is a very nifty bit of kit. What you are getting is a neat pair of high quality ceramic stones that are glued together to form a double sided whetstone, medium/coarse to sharpen and remove steel quickly, fine/smooth to refine and touch up already quite sharp knives. The thing I particularly like is the leather pouch that this comes in - this acts as a very stable platform to rest the stone on which grips and provides friction on almost any flat surface. I have found that the best way to sharpen is to place the stone on the pouch at the edge of a waist-high worktop, bench or table (such as a kitchen worktop or workmate), give it a few passes to the right on the medium (controlling the edge angle) then the same number of strokes to the left, then flip the stone and work on the fine side in the same way. Once this is done, the leather pouch itself can even serve as a strop for you to remove the fine burr you may have developed! Well thought out if you ask me. It certainly worked on a D2 steel knife and a VG10 knife I have. D2 is tough stuff to sharpen as well. The thing that sold me finally was when I saw a review that mentioned this is the exact same material that spyderco use on their bigger dry-sharpen ceramic whetstones, only at a fraction of the size and half the cost. Therefore, if you're only sharpening pocket knives and things like kitchen utility knives, I can't see why you would need anything else. Time will tell if the stones stay together as some people have mentioned them parting, but this apparently doesn't affect the function, just the form. And how much does some epoxy resin cost? Pence!

Make sharpening a thing of beauty

Spyderco stones beat anything hands down for giving any knife and amazing edge . These stones get knives from sharp to stupidly sharp with almost zero effort. The hardest bit is washing the stone afterwards. I pair mine with a fallkniven DC4 which I use to get my knives sharp (as it's much quicker) if seriously dulled. Then use the Double stuff to refine the edge by polishing and smoothing. The end result being a cutting edge that lasts ages and cuts anything and everything easily. This is a one time purchase. That will last forever . Get 1 ordered.

    Very good

Works flawlessly. Only issue is that after a while the 2 halves separated. Doesn't affect performance at all but worth noting.

    Excellent Sharpener

I like to do a bit of "off hand" sharpening and this is just the job. The coarse side cuts quite freely and the fine side leaves a really good polished finish, hardly any need to strop. All credit to HH and the Royal Mail - ordered at 3.30 and on my doormat the next morning. Keep up the good work chaps!
