This is Spyderco's famous UK Penknife (UKPK) with FRN handles and a drop point balde with a flat grind.

We want variety!" It's an often heard sentiment from knife customers and is why Spyderco offers several bestsellers with different handle options. Knife nuts wanting the lightest- weight folders available, gravitate to FRN or fiberglass reinforced nylon handles. Ultra- light FRN is warp resistant, shuns chemicals, and isn't affected by temperature extremes.

Spyderco's non-locking, one-hand open, clip carry folders are called SLIPITS. Starting in 2004, Spyderco launched a folding knife model called the UK Penknife, targeted for carry in the United Kingdom. As the SLIPIT concept gains momentum Spyderco keeps expanding the line with folders in varying sizes, steels and handles. Newly added are Lightweight SLIPITS.

Lightweight UK Penknife blades are held open by a notched-joint at the knife's pivot. When closing the blade the notch produces resistance functionally similar to traditional slip-joint penknives. Heightening control and comfort, Spyderco designers added a deep finger choil positioning the index finger on the bottom of the blade directly under the thumb. This lets you choke up near the cutting edge with comfort and dexterity. A tension-wire clip carries the folder deeply in a pocket, tip-up and ambidextrously.

This version has a CTS BD1N blade steel and black FRN handle.

    Excellent EDC Knife

Posted by Callum Smith on 8th Feb 2024

Having used the pocket knife for over a year now, I can confidently say it's been a reliable companion. Straight out of the box, it came razor-sharp and has retained its edge fairly well. I chose this as it is legal for carry in the UK. However, I don't always take it over my swiss army knife as it's appearance can be more intimidating. Nonetheless, its durability and cutting performance make it a solid choice for everyday carry.

    Spyderco UK Pen Knife

Posted by Ian on 18th Jan 2024

For some years I have had the OKPK with the signature Spyderco leaf shaped knife and recently bought the Heinnie version with the drop point blade, which is very impressive. I recommend this design as it fits the hand well and works well. So worrying that I might misplace this collectors item I have bought this version and the separate titanium scales to customise this model. This now works in every way!

    Perfectly balanced EDC

Really nicely made, lightweight and ultra sharp. Also really like the drop point blade shape on the UKPK - highly recommend for a daily carry.

    Spyderco ukpk

Posted by Mark on 30th Jun 2022

If I hadn’t bought this from H/H I would have thought it was a cheap Chinese rip off, for a knife that cost £80 unbelievably disappointing, the handle feels like a cheap plastic toy (frn) I have several victorinox which knock the spots off this for build quality. Also purchased a couple of lock knives from HH one of which is the rat D2 (locking) which quality wise knocks the spots off this Spyderco, however I wanted something more uk legal & the ukpk does have good points, the design is excellent for a slip joint, & it is very light weight in the pocket, it’s also excellent for slicing, food etc I’d even say slightly better than my Opinel no8 (£9 knife) I did wait a while to see if the H/H version of this was ever coming back in stock I’m sure the handle quality is better, in general, would I buy another Spyderco,, No totally over priced & over rated,

    Perfect "UK Legal" EDC

Posted by Michael Jaeger on 6th Dec 2021

While I prefer my Para3, if I have to be politically correct, this knife is as good as it gets as a UK Legal EDC. Now, since I am retired, and disabled, I often ponder the irony, that I have to be thinking about what kind of knife I can put in my pocket, so I don't get arrested. When I was deployed to some inhospitable corners of the world, carrying more fire power than a whole infantry company during the battle of the Somme, nobody seemed to be concerned about that. We do live in peculiar times...

    Spyderco UK Penknife Drop Point

Posted by Philip Greenhill on 21st Jul 2021

Seems like it's been a long time waiting for this to be back in stock and I wasn't dissappointed by it. It's my first Spyderco, I have enough of another American brand that I can't carry because they lock so I didn/t want to buy any that I couldn't carry. It is a beautiful little knife, light, very well put together and razor sharp, as I said it certainly doesn't dissappoint and I'm eagerly awaiting the HH UK legal version to come in stock, not too long I hope

I've waited and waited for this to be in stock. It's been worth the wait!! I love the shape of the blade, I much prefer this style to the standard blade (nothing wrong with the standard though). This is going to be my main EDC UK legal knife and it's superb. Pocket clip, sharp out of the box, lightweight and does the job with ease. As always superb service from Heinnie Hayes
