Terrain 365™ designs and crafts state-of-the-art edged tools using advanced super-alloys and accessories to enhance your experience in the outdoors. Their tools, made with Terravantium™ Dendretic Cobalt alloy, are designed to perform in all environments, are 100% rust-proof and possess superb edge holding characteristics. Terrain 365™ was founded in 2018 by Michael Vagnino and Patrick Ma two of the most successful and knowledgable knife designers working today.

Dendritic cobalt is a non-magnetic cobalt alloy. It will never rust, corrode, pit or stain, and holds an extremely sharp edge for a very long time. It is a non-ferrous, non-magnetic alloy, a dense network of inter-connected carbide crystals in a cobalt matrix. When used as a blade it sets up an edge that is exceptionally wear resistant and extremely sharp. Every time the blade is sharpened a new micro-serrated edge is exposed, producing another extremely sharp edge.

Terravantium™ is the proprietary name of Terrain 365's dendritic cobalt products. It is a costly material and requires a different set of processes to produce and finish. One of the distinct properties of Terravantium™ is that they do not roll out the investment cast bar stock or blades which separates the carbide crystals. The microscopic carbide crystals retain their original structure resulting in longer lasting and superior cutting performance.

All purpose utility-field knife, and a blade alloy that Terrain 365 guarantee is impervious to corrosion in all of nature's environments, the Element Alpha-HD sits at a small to mid-size overall length of 20.3cm (8ins). It will tackle most general cutting chores without being unwieldy or bulky.

Rust-proof, stout, and with excellent edge retention these are not your average everyday fixed blades. After a multi-step finish process, each blade is hand sharpened. From backpacking to your favorite mountain lake, river running, tracking in the forest, or navigating through an uncharted jungle track in your rig, the Element Alpha-HD is an all-around cutting tool for explorers, woodsmen and adventurers.

    Indestructible

Posted by Reggie on 25th Feb 2019

This is one very special knife. Using a dendritic cobalt alloy is pretty ground breaking, and has really worked on this one. I have used my knife in sea water, and it completely unmarked. It feels extremely robust. it cuts well, and is extremely comfortable to use. Great piece of kit. Thanks HH

It's a very nicely crafted bit of kit this. If it's not steel, it certainly feels lovely.

    Not a great knife, sadly

Posted by Phil on 17th Nov 2018

I purchased this knife, intrigued by the cobalt construction and because it looked great (and is claimed as completely rust proof-- it is NOT STEEL, so this is a very credible claim) Positives: Nice feel and weight. Real heft to it, as it's not a huge knive Great para wrap handle, very nicely finished with it seamlessly merging into the lanyard The knife cuts well, but for tasks better suited to serrations (cutting rope, or fibrous materials like seat belts) . It would also probably be a great skinner/hunting knife (though the paracord handle would be hard to clean) Nice kydex sbeath The less positives: I really wanted to love this knife, but sadly I just don't. It has a very irritating grind, making it hard to sharpen and almost like an axe to cut everyday objects, like paper or boxes etc, because the blade body is so thick near the edge it leaves a huge hole in what you're cutting.... Why didn't they do a flat grind/casting? I just don't get it. The finger choil jams into the side of my forefinger and starts cutting it very slowly, by jabbing it the corner of the sharpened blade. I want to outline here that I have slim hands, not big hairy lumberjack hands; so I imagine it could be a lot worse. I've tried grinding mine down a bit to round it off and (very) marginally shorten the blade... It's made it better but still really unacceptable design. The finish of the blade stock is nice, kind of rustic, but they could have at least machined down the casting seams left from when it was removed from cast. They are ugly and not great for comfort. For a £250+ knife this is pretty outrageous. In conclusion: I love Heinnie and their service was impecible, as ways, so I feel kind of bad saying this... However, when you consider the numerous flaws and the high price, this REALLY isn't a good knife. Unless you were planning to scuba dive in mild acid, I would not recommend this knife to anyone. I wish I had spent the money on one of the new carbon fibre spyderco native 5s :(
