You'll never look back.Review by Stu

If your thinking of buying this or are pondering as wether or not to get this , just buy this as you'll never look back as it sharpens and polishes knives to a razor edge and I don't say that likely. All the other sharpening methods such as whetstone or other electric grinders I've tried and this is the only sharpening machine that actually delivers what it promises. My dad actually whined at me for sharpening the kitchen knives to sharp but as I said to him he was the person responsable for cutting him self not me and not the knife as he was in control but this wonderful machine not only sharpens knives it can sharpen (with the right attachments) axes, lawn mower blades, chisels drills and can sand wood or plastic so it's so versatile. The belts are cheap and easy to get hold of and because this is making tsunamis in the knife world parts are easy to get hold of but this machine will pay for itself and you'll never look back again oh also if you have ceramic knives you can buy diamond grit belts to sharpen them with n this machine and you can also sharpen cut throats razors to with a leather strop belt !. I've been messing about with all sorts of sharpening methods for years, with mixed results. Have had this one for a few months, and it is an awesome piece of kit. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. Will now get rid of all the other stuff, as I certainly will never need to use it again!433 (Posted on 08/08/2016)

I have been taking care of my own blades for years and have become a dab hand with Indian oil stones or Japanese wet stones. Although time consuming it is quite satisfying honing an edge to razor sharpness. I have been intrigued by the work sharp since its introduction and years later I finally succumbed to purchasing the Ken Onion edition. After watching a few YouTube clips and reading the instructions I felt suitably informed to get stuck into a few knives. I keep all my wife's kitchen knives sharp and she had mentioned a few days earlier that they were starting to dull, so these were first. It was remarkable after a few strokes either side of different grits from coarse to fine how amazingly sharp the knifes became. The more I did the more efficient I became with the work sharp. I was soon getting stuck into my entire knife collection, bringing them all up to hair popping sharpness, no matter what size or make of blade. There is one flaw and that is on smaller pocket knife blades the angle rest runs out so that the last part of the blade is being done freehand as it has nothing to rest on. For me this wasn't a real drama as I simply took my time and care. I played about with different honing angles and all became paper shredders in no time at all. Now I do like a convex grind, but I am also a fan of the scandi grind. My scandi' are super sharp but I couldn't resist running one of my bushcraft knifes through the work sharp. I didn't go heavy on it, I simply gave it a few strokes either side on diffent grits and the result was a mini convex grind making it a double bevel. It was and still is hair popping sharp and still looks like a scandi grind. The whole thing is pretty much idiot proof. There is no need to press down hard into or against the angle rests, just follow the easy to read and follow instructions and you will be amazed by the results. My wife actually moaned that her knifes are now too sharp.....go figure eh. I did purchase the additional leather strop belt that you can get and this for me finished the edges off to purists perfection. The stones are now staying in the drawer for the time being ......maybe until the novelty wears off or maybe forever...who knows. The bottom line is this. If you want to put a razors edge on any knife in double quick time or you are not very good with stones then the work sharp Is for you. (Posted on 15/07/2016)

Ive tried all sorts of systems to sharpen my knifes but either they take far too long or they don't work that well. The Ken onion sharpener is fantastic. Easy to use and OMG the blades are super sharp in no time at all. Only criticism would be cost but if it lasts it will be worth it.
And.....as always HH delivered super fast. (Posted on 07/07/2016)

The convex ground edge is much more superior than a V ground edge for cutting tasks and this device will put that convex edge on all your knives.

It is very easy to put a hair-popping edge on your knives and vary the angle.

There is some debate as to what angle you should use; they suggest 25degrees per side.
Try 15 degrees each side and you will surprise yourself at the durability of that edge.
Always remember the difference between the edge and the bevel; the edge is microscopic ;-) (Posted on 24/02/2016)

Wow in less than an hour after receiving this item I had sharpened every blade in the house... then I went to my neighbours and showed them too!

This is a real asset to own and makes short work of almost all blades, some skill is required but not much this does exactly what it says it does sharpens blades so be careful... love it now it is back in the box waiting to come and play another day! (Posted on 08/09/2015)

A very effective luxuryReview by Rich

I bought this as a birthday extravagance. It is a little expensive but it works extremely well. All my knives, axes and anything else with an edge, are now scarily sharp. If you are a purist about your scandi grinds then this might not be for you as it will put a convex edge on them. I use it with the finest belt to hone the edge after hand sharpening on a stone, the result is much the same as you would get with a leather strop.
The blade guides can be removed and the belt head rotated so that it can be used like a belt sander for axes, bill hooks etc.
On the whole I would say that it was a very good product and worth the expense if you have a number of things to keep sharp.
Excellent service from HH as usual. (Posted on 27/08/2014)

hi,would this be able to sharpen the condor hd kukri ? or is the blade to thick? thanks .steve
A:
Blade is too thick really and using something like a lansky puck where you take the sharpener to the tool not the other way around would work better on something like a kukri.
