Victorinox Swiss Soldier's Knife 08

Victorinox Swiss Soldier's Knife 08

For more than 100 years, Victorinox has equipped Swiss soldiers with pocket knives. This tradition will be continued with this special model. The requirements of the Swiss Army have increased, however. Suitability for military use, safety, quality and a good price-performance ratio are the preconditions that the new pocket knife effortlessly fulfils.

Only the best stainless steel will be used for the production of the blade, the wood saw, the can opener with screwdriver 3mm, cap lifter with screwdriver 7mm lockable and wire stripper, the Philips screwdriver and the reamer and punch tool. In addition, the cutting blade has been given a serrated edge and can be opened with one hand. The blade and the screwdriver are locked after being opened. And the technology also doesn't stop at the grip shells. A two-component plastic gives the Soldier's Knife a better grip than all its predecessors, and lends the tool that extra something. And, of course, the Victorinox Soldier's Knife is also low maintenance.

    Not usually a huge fan of SAK steel for a working knife, but this one is actually really good. Here’s why:

    1. One handed opening;
    2. Blade length is useful in real life for the outdoors;
    3. I usually avoid serrations, but this one makes sense – and serrations at the front of the blade make it useful for cutting cordage and brambles;
    4. The saw blade is longer (and therefore more useable) than standard SAKs(
    5. Locking flat-head blade makes turning and prying more confident.

    My only complaint is the absence of a corkscrew.

    But for £40-odd, it’s a bargain.

    Got one as a present, & as with my other 2 models this one i great. one handed opening is a bonus, all the extra 's work fine as for the linerlock ? has a reassuring click when opening the blade and is really quite solid. Not in my opinion a heavy duty blade, but perfectly suitable for most chores around camp. will always be with me when outdoors. RECOMMENDED !!! (Posted on )

    I can only echo what has already been said.
    It fills all my needs for an ideal edc carry.
    one handed opening, all the tools work well, good size & not to heavy to carry in your pocket.
    For me it's the perfect edc.

    Recommended !!!

  4. The Ideal EDC KnifeReview by
    As is to be expected with all Victorinox products, build quality and finish is top notch. yes, I know our ridiculous laws here in the UK make this knife illegal to carry in public. But if you are looking for a knife for outdoors, then this one fits the bill perfectly. The saw is very useful, as are all the other tools. Keep it in a belt pouch, and use it as it is intended to be used, and you have a tool here that will literally last a lifetime. I must point out that this is a locking blade design, so you know the usual nonsense applies if you live in the UK. (Posted on )
  5. Smaller Than I ExpectedReview by
    A good well made knife as always from Victorinox but smaller than I imagined it to be but still larger than a standard(red) Swiss Army Knife (Posted on )
  6. Superb Work KnifeReview by
    I say work knife as its legal to carry when you are working with it. Very tough and heavier duty that your normal SAK. Don't be put off by the serrations, I hate serrations on knives but love these on this knife. I cut hard plastic GEO-GRID to go under track ways, normally I need Tin Snips as an average knife can't cut the tough plastic mesh. This knives main blade is best used in a slashing motion, which would even be useful in the unlikely event of a tactical situation .

    The other tools are also really tough the saw is amazing cutting plastic and ply, I use the strong flat head bottle opener for unseizing D-Link bolts when taking chains off diggers. BTW the serrations are easy to sharpen on a normal stone.

    If you want a good Swiss Army Knife get a Victorinox COMPACT, if you want a Heavy Duty Work Knife on steroids then I can highly recommend this knife as I put it through HELL every day !

  8. Excellent Review by
    Supe,r Super Knife, fits well in the hand and sharp as hell out the box. The reverse liner lock takes a bit of getting used to as 2 hands are needed to close it. Read the reviews online about this knife as there are left and right handed versions of this knife available. The one shown in the picture is for right handed people, i.e If you hold it in your right hand and feather a piece of wood (slice shavings off it away from you) the flat edge is on the bottom so the knife slices like a chisel. Hence chisel ground.
    So it would not work so well if held by a left handed person.
    Left handed knifes have an L stamped on the blade. Not to sure if HH sell left handed ones so check first as I am right handed.
    The above said this knife is an excellent all round everyday knife that will last for years and the colour of green and black together look quite good in my opinion.

  10. QualityReview by
    It's THE Swiss Army knife. Useful, robust, sharp, practical. All the things you need at a third of the price of a multi tool. (Posted on )
  11. Solidly Built, Reliable And Razor SharpReview by
    I had an awful red plastic handled 'swiss army' knife when I was a kid and always assumed it'd been a Victorinox and that put me off the brand, but having seen good reviews of this knife I got one as I just wanted a practical soldier's knife I could use out in the field. It is very solidly built, like a Tonka toy, with everything about it being quality, the blade being the sharpest I've ever owned (maintaining the edge is easy with the Victorinox pocket sharpener I got as well. However, it is a nuisance to have to clean and dry out inside after skinning and grains of sand get between the moving parts and are difficult to wash out. One for the backpack (as not legal carry) or van dashboard but not ideal for bushcraft. (Posted on )
  12. Excellent Swiss Army KnifeReview by
    This is a great Swiss army pocket knife. It has a one-hand-opening serrated locking blade and a wood saw as well as the usual basic Victorinox tools: can opener,
    screwdrivers (including Philips), reamer, can opener,
    bottle opener, wire stripper etc. The handle also has some rubber points for better grip.
    It's ideal for the outdoors: you need to get one if you like hiking, trekking, or camping. Heinnie were great as usual in immediately dispatching the order.

  13. very nice,Review by
    Wanted one of these since they came out and I finally got one, as usual from Victorinox this is a very well made knife with plenty of useful tools for a camping trip. Well worth the money. I wasn't sure about the serrated blade but there is plenty of normal edge for cutting plus super sharp as are the serrations. Chisel grind edge works very well, highly recomended. (Posted on )
  14. Awesome,Review by
    What a awsesome knife, wanted one for ages and as a great price I went for it, amazing service form HH as always, this knife is highly recomended as built to last like all Victorinox knives. (Posted on )
  15. Best yetReview by
    Over the years I've had a few Victorinox knives and I must say this is well up to the usual high standard. The knife I got has a dark coating on all of the metal parts. This looks just right and a lot better than the one in the photo. Ill keep this one in the tackle box to replace my old Swiss knife (After 20+ years of abuse the lock gave out) I can recommend this kit to anyone who's idea of maintenance is a dash of oil once a year and quick run over with a hone when required. 16. The perfect versatile toolReview by
    It is a shame that it is illegal to carry in England. It is a great all round knife, good quality and useful in any condition, just as you would expect from a Swiss Army Knife. There are no specifications about the grind on it. It is a chisel grind, a bit hard to maintain and cutting straight may be a challenge at some scales as this grind tends to drive sideways. Overall great tool and as quality cannot be faulted it fully deserves 5 stars. (Posted on )
  17. awesome!Review by
    I have been using this knife for 2 years. I have used and literally abused this knife ALOT. And it's still razor sharp, never sharpend it. The tools on the knife are very usefull, and I have used everything on that knife. A very good tool indeed. You can't go wrong with this knife! (Posted on )
  18. Fits the billReview by
    Just what I was looking for - part serrated blade with serrations at the tip instead. Owned an earlier version but this easy out blade is far more user friendly. Can't be faulted for the money. (Posted on )
  19. Sweet ToolReview by
    Excellent Swiss Army Knife.......Locks work perfectly, yet it is set out as if it is intended for a left handed person, but, most people are right handed, yet this has posed no problems for myself yet.....swift delivery also, received in 2 days !! thank you Heinnie !!! (Posted on )
